Career & Community Education
Community and Career Education staff conduct outreach activities, community events, room services, and career development activities for community members and students. Services include career exploration and planning, job skills training, internships, and other work-based learning opportunities, assistance with job searching and application documents, and connection to social services. Other enrichment activities are also offered, including the Academy for Learning in Retirement and Pottery classes.
Academy For Learning in Retirement
The Academy for Learning in Retirement (ALR) is a volunteer-run organization whose purpose is to provide meaningful presentations on diverse topics of interest to members of the community. ALR is affiliated with, but not funded by, New Mexico State University (NMSU) through Doña Ana Community College. The programs are presented by NMSU faculty and other experts who are deeply knowledgeable in their fields. The program is offered in the spring and fall semesters and consists of monthly lecture series on current issues and topics. Tuition may be purchased by semester or a lecture series may be purchased monthly. Each semester the topics are eclectic, and may broadly include the sciences, arts, humanities, history, national and international affairs, economics, and other topics. Career Exploration Services
The mission of career services at DACC is to assist students in reaching their personal and professional career goals. Services include career exploration and planning, job skills training, internships, and other work-based learning opportunities, assistance with job searching and application documents, and connection to social services. Career & Life Skills Academy
The Career & Life Skills Academy is a one-year program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and other neurodiverse conditions at any stage of life. This program engages participants in career exploration and self-discovery, work and professional skills development, technical skills development, and healthy, independent living. Youth Programs
Spring Break and summer programs are available through the Kids College and Career Camps. The programs focus on early career exploration and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) topics.
