HLED 1110. American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED

A video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid; choking relief in adults, children, and infants; and what to do for sudden cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infants. Upon successful completion of the course, students will become eligible for AHA Heartsaver® First Aid & CPR/AED certification. May be repeated up to 1 credit.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate the skills necessary to efficiently perform one (1) and two (2) rescuer CPR for adult, child, and infant victims of cardiac arrest at the Basic Life Support level.
- Demonstrate the skills necessary to safely and effectively operate an automated external defibrillator (AED).
- Demonstrate the skills necessary to intervene and care for an adult, child, or infant choking victim and be able to administer first-aid to this population.
